Hanns Herzing, "Verklärung" View from a rocky hilltop with flowering meadows to a high mountain lake under a cloudy sky, the partial veil of clouds in subtle pink around the mountain peaks indicate a morning setting and this is probably also how the ambiguous title "Verklärung" is to be understood - firstly, the painterly transfiguration of the idyllic mountain world, which was the motif at the centre of Herzing's work, Secondly, the literal clearing of the veil of clouds around the mountains as the morning progresses, oil on canvas, signed "Hanns Herzing" lower right, titled "Verklärung" on the label on the reverse, probably by the artist, as well as dated and numbered "1941/36", upper right on the stretcher with further illegible annotations, including measurements, retouches, craquelure and pressure marks from the stretcher, waxed, unframed, folded, dimensions approx. 75.5 x 100 cm. Artist info: German portrait and landscape painter. Portrait and landscape painter (1890 Dresden - 1971 Dresden), studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule and from 1911 at the Dresden Academy under Gotthard Kuehl and Carl Bantzer, master student of Eugen Bracht, from 1925 annual stay in Switzerland, executed two colossal paintings in the waiting room of Dresden's main railway station in 1924-25, represented in the Dresden State Art Collections, member of the art association "Schaffender Künstler", active in Dresden, later in Dresden-Niederpoyritz, source: Vollmer, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", student lists of the Dresden Academy, Dressler and Wikipedia.
