Paulus Potter 1625 Enkhuizen-1654 Amsterdam Landscape with herds signed lower left on the fence: "Potter fecit" carries old inventory label on the back To further confirm the work's authorship, note the many stylistic similarities that our panel shares with some of Potter's works held within important museum collections, such as "The Four Bulls" in the Galleria Sabauda in Turin or "La praire" in the Louvre. W. 42.2 - H. 40.6 cm oil on panel Private collection, Bergamo The work is in more than fair conservation/aesthetic condition. A slight welded crack is observed at the junction of the two support boards. Observation with Wood's lamp revealed no major defects except for some color retouching, concentrated mainly in the lower part of the sky and in the lower left corner at the vegetation. The rest of the painting, including animals and much of the landscape, is well preserved and fresh. In order. Provenance: Borromeo Monti Collection (card with inventory number 1830 available) As further confirmation of the work's authorship, note the many stylistic similarities that our panel shares with some of Potter's works held within important museum collections, such as "The Four Bulls" in the Galleria Sabauda in Turin or "La praire" in the Louvre. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/aarq1cl1vu775j9k3mljw/AG11UIR1f-9oB33XSCXSVjo?rlkey=7v6320defadjj9f2rgvr0039n&st=en360uv2&dl=0
