BERLIOZ (Hector). Autograph signed in several places. Baden-Baden, [summer 1861]. One p. 1/4 in-8; some transparency effects and ink bites. Note probably intended for a newspaper, announcing the concert he was to give on August 26, 1861 in the so-called "Salon de Conversation" in Baden, at the invitation of the director of the town's casino, Édouard Bénazet, as part of the annual music festival held there - Berlioz conducted works there in 1844, 1853 and from 1856 to 1863. "M. H. Berlioz is currently preparing in Baden the great concert of August 26, in which several of his most important compositions will be heard, including his symphony HAROLD EN ITALIE, and the great Tuba mirum from his REQUIEM, which have not yet been heard by the Baden public so familiar with most of M. Berlioz's other works. The singers and virtuosos who will perform at this musical feast, for which M. Bénazet provides M. Berlioz with splendid means of performance, including [the pianist] Mme Rosa Kastner-Escudier, [the singer] Melle Monrose, [the violinist] Mr Sivori, [the singer] Renard, [the violinist] Grodvolle. The entire staff of the chapel of the Grand Duke [of Baden] will take part, along with the artists from Baden."
