[Maillol]. Specimen 122 of 150 of the two volumes of Horace's Odes illustrated by woodcuts by Aristide Maillol, each volume with a sanguine suite of all plates. As the notice at the beginning of the work explains, Maillol's magnificent woodcuts had been prepared for a publication, never realized, by Cranach Press later taken over by the Parisian publisher Gonin, which finished works only in 1958.
