Konstantin Somov (1869-1939), Russian painter who studied at the St. Petersburg Academy and in Paris from 1888-99 and was inspired by Watteau and Fragonard. Somov emigrated in 1923 and went to Paris in 1925. Represented in the Tretyakov Gallery, among others. Park landscape with playful-amorous rococo scenes, tempera on paper over cardboard, signed lower left marginal tears, rubbing and flaking paint, provenance: from the artist's family, enclosed a handwritten letter and a group photo, 34 x 43 cm

He traveled to Western and Southern Europe and taught at various academies after his return. Falileev was head of the graphics department in the "Proletkult" and dean of the Faculty of Graphics from 1921. - Slightly browned in the margins. The color lithographic plates extremely bright in color. With 34 plates, 18 of which in color lithography. He studied at the academy in Bruges and lived in Brussels. In addition to genre scenes and marine paintings, he created numerous cityscapes, often depicting Brussels. Around 1839 he began to concentrate on scenes by night and moonlight. Watercolor, heightened with white oil paint, on blue wove paper. Signed. Mounted in spots under mat and framed under glass. - The oil paint with craquelée in spots. Paper a bit wavy due to mounting. At all in a very good condition. Atmospheric and finely worked out scene which gets its charm by the adept combination of watercolour and oil paint. - Flemish painter and representative of Flemish Romanticism. Donny was best known for his atmospheric scenes at moonlight.
