A BLUE AND WHITE ‘SEVEN SCHOLARS’ PORCELAIN DISH, KANGXI MARK AND PERIOD China, Kangxi period (1662-1722). The shallow rounded sides applied with a metal rim, painted to the interior in underglaze blue with seven scholars gathering around a table, one pointing towards the sun, and framed by rockwork issuing bamboo, all within a double line. The recessed base with an underglaze blue six-character Kangxi reign mark. Condition: Very good condition, some manufacturing flaws including pitting and fritting to the rim, a minor chip to the rim at the base, and light surface scratches. Provenance: Austrian private collection. Weight: 161.5 g Dimensions: Diameter 13.5 cm
