Red half-maroquin with corners, spine ribbed, gilt head, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved (Semet et Plumelle). First edition of the last novel in the Rougon-Macquart series, containing the fold-out family tree of the Rougon family. One of 340 numbered copies on Hollande paper (no. 332), complete with prospectus leaf at the end for a portrait of Émile Zola. A good copy bound by Semet et Plumelle. Minor scratches on first cover.

First edition. Signed autograph letter from Émile Zola "to Paul Robiquet, his devoted colleague". Paul Robiquet (1848-1929) was a lawyer and historian. (Carteret II, 488).
