Jean Gabriel GOULINAT (1883-1972). Country landscape. Oil on canvas signed lower left. 100 x 150 cm. Note: Jean Gabriel Goulinat was a French painter and art restorer. He was director of the restoration workshop for national museum paintings at the Musée du Louvre. In 1956, he participated in the restoration of the Mona Lisa. A tribute exhibition to this artist has been organized from June 25 to September 18, 2022 at the Maison Poussou museum in Bruniquel (Tarn-et-Garonne).

Beige cloth boards, title and tomaison pages (worn) on spines (period binding). Manuscript unpublished to our knowledge. Paul de Preissac (July 17, 1819 in La Rochelle - October 10, 1883 in Sorèze) was prefect of Lot-et-Garonne at the time of the coup d'état of December 2, 1851. He later became prefect of Puy-de-Dôme, then prefect of Tarn-et-Garonne and finally Bonapartist senator for Tarn-et-Garonne from 1876 to 1882.

In-folio, red half-chagrin, ornate ribbed spine, gold-stamped title on front cover (period binding). Atlas comprising an illustrated title, 89 engraved maps of French departments, 6 maps of French possessions (Algeria, Reunion Island, West Indies, African colonies, American colonies), and 7 maps (planisphere, Europe, Africa, Asia, North America, South America, Oceania). All maps have the interior finely watercolored at the time. A good copy. Some wear to binding.

A fine copy.
