VICHY REGIME. INSIGNES. Rare badge of the 33rd Bataillon de Marche de Chasseurs à Pied made by Augis in Lyon, created from July 1, 1941 to July 15, 1941, i.e. 15 days! BE Formed with personnel from the 159th RIA and the 12 alpine and foot chasseur battalions. The plan was to send it to Syria, which was under attack from the British and the Free French Forces. The battalion was due to embark on July 5, but the battle was already lost in the Levant: fighting ceased on the 12th and the Saint-Jean-D'acre armistice was signed on the 14th.
