A FINE WOOD RYUSA MANJU NETSUKE OF KIKU (CHRYSANTHEMUM) BLOSSOMS Unsigned Japan, late 19th century, Meiji period (1868-1912) Finely carved, the round openworked manju netsuke formed by several overlapping kiku (chrysanthemum) blossoms. The petals of the larger flowers are unfurled in full bloom while the smaller flowers are depicted still growing their short petals. Himotoshi formed by a silver loop to the back. DIAMETER 3.3 cm Condition: Good condition with wear, small chip to the petal of one flower, and minor nicks here and there.
