Ɏ AN IVORY NETSUKE OF A COILED DRAGON Unsigned Japan, 18th century, Edo period (1615-1868) The sinuously coiled dragon is shown snarling with large inlaid eyes and minutely incised scales. Natural himotoshi through the body. HEIGHT 4.5 cm Condition: Good condition, fine patina, some age cracks and tiny chips to edges. Provenance: German private collection. Zacke, Fine Japanese Art, 4 June 2021, Vienna, lot 192 ( sold for EUR 1,770). German private collection, acquired from the above. This item contains ivory, rhinoceros horn, tortoise shell, and/or some types of tropical wood and is subject to CITES when exporting outside the EU.
