Ɏ AN IVORY NETSUKE OF A COILED DRAGON Unsigned Japan, 18th century, Edo period (1615-1868) The sinuously coiled dragon is shown snarling with large inlaid eyes and minutely incised scales. Natural himotoshi through the body. HEIGHT 4.5 cm Condition: Good condition, fine patina, some age cracks and tiny chips to edges. Provenance: German private collection. Zacke, Fine Japanese Art, 4 June 2021, Vienna, lot 192 ( sold for EUR 1,770). German private collection, acquired from the above. This item contains ivory, rhinoceros horn, tortoise shell, and/or some types of tropical wood and is subject to CITES when exporting outside the EU. It is typically not possible to export such items outside of the EU, including to the UK. Therefore, after this item has the necessary trade certificate, it can only be shipped within the EU or picked up in our gallery in person.
