André AUCOC (1856-1911) Square silver, gold-plated and 18k (750 thousandths) rose gold poudrier decorated with applied gadroons and flowers. Mirror inside. Signed A. Aucoc. Good condition. French hallmark and Aucoc hallmark. Dimensions : 7.1 x 7 cm. Gross weight: 171.2 g. André Aucoc is the younger brother of Louis Aucoc, René Lalique's teacher. It was André who ran the family workshop at 6 Rue de la Paix in Paris, home to the great names in fine jewelry, and who was awarded the Grand Prix in the "Goldsmithing" section of the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle. This part of the Aucoc family history can be found in the book by Michael Koch et alii, Pariser Schmuck, München, 1989, p. 242.
