Walter Einbeck, attr., "Modell aus Oberweimar" Head portrait of an elderly peasant woman in a professional, impasto portrait painting, oil on canvas and cardboard, c. 1910, unsigned, inscribed on the reverse "Eimbeck [sic.] Modell aus Oberweimar", painting ground somewhat wavy, somewhat retouched, in need of minor cleaning and restoration, framed, folded dimensions approx. 51.5 x 43 cm. Artist information: German landscape, portrait and figure painter (1890 Magdeburg to1968 Munich), initially trained as a wholesale assistant in Magdeburg from 1905, studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule Magdeburg from 1906, 1908-10 studied at the Munich Academy under Angelo Jank, then at the Weimar Academy under Max Thedy, Fritz Mackensen and Ludwig von Hoffmann, 1915-18 military service in the 1st World War, 1919 moved to Munich. World War I, moved to Munich in 1919 and studied under Franz von Stuck, travelled through Thuringia, East and West Prussia, freelance painter in Munich from 1921, exhibited at the Munich Glaspalast and the Great German Art Exhibition at the Haus der Deutschen Kunst in Munich from 1939-42, member of the Reichsverband Bildender Künstler Deutschlands, destruction of his Munich studio in 1944 and temporary relocation to Gräflfing, active in Munich again from 1950, employee of the "Drei-Eichen-Verlag" from 1951, source: Vollmer, Dressler, register of the Munich Academy, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", Bruckmann "Münchner Maler des 19./20th century", Müller-Singer and Internet.
