Pavel TCHELITCHEW (Dubrowka, 1898 - Grottaferrata, 1957) Portrait of Geoffrey Gorer Mixed media on cardboard. Studio stamp "P. Tchelitchew" on the back and no. 901. 45.5 x 41 cm. Provenance : Collection Marie Tchelitcheff (sister of the artist) wife of Alexis Zaoussailoff, known as Choura. By inheritance: Collection R. By inheritance: "Friends of Pavel Tchelitcheff" Collection. History Geoffrey Gorer (1905-1985), was a British writer, anthropologist and psychologist. He is known for his contributions to the fields of social anthropology, psychology and sociology. A true pioneer in the study of sexuality, intercultural relations, human behavior and social norms, he was also a close friend of Tchelitchew. London's Tate Modern holds a portrait of G. Gorer's mother, painted in 1930.
