D1 MARIETTE, P. Orbis Vetus Auctore N.Sanson.. Paris, Mariette, 1657. Bound in old col. Good condition. 380 x 535 mm. Nicolas Sanson's map of the ancient world was also published separately in 1657, before being incorporated into the first official edition of Sanson's world atlas in 1658. It was engraved by Jean Somer Pruthenus. The map is divided into two hemispheres with no external decoration. With a vast landmass north of Jesso. Brown calf, spine ribbed and decorated (period binding). Text of the play printed in fine italic type. The privilege is dated February 8, 1691, printed for the first time on March 3, 1691. First edition. With beautiful engraved frontispiece by Mariette. Headcap torn off, jaws partly split, corners restored, tear without missing p.1-2, scattered soiling, otherwise a fine copy with wide margins (ff. size: 254 x 184 mm).
