Glued on double pages, each page having photos on one side only. CEYLAN part 71 pages on Ceylon, featuring 75 photos measuring 27 by 22 cm, most of them signed by Apothecaries co, Colombo, Ceylon, a photographer who was active between 1880 and 1920. In particular, 28 photos are devoted to the Flora of Ceylon. 29 photos are of street scenes or characters. The pages also include 34 vintage phototypes, smaller vintage photos and old postcards of Ceylon. Some photos show the ravages of a famine, a tiger hunter, tea-picking, etc. SINGAPORE section 38 photos, 19 by 14 cm, or smaller. JAVA part 51 pages, including 59 photos, 18 by 23 cm, and 45 photos in a smaller format. The collection also includes a plan of the ship SS TONKIN. In all, some 169 large-format photos, 45 in smaller format. The set also includes a set of period phototypes on Ceylon (Clifton). Very good condition. An exceptional set.
