Rare depictions of professions of the Biedermeier period, the early lithographs by A. Langweil (1791-1837), who founded the first lithographic institute in Prague in 1819 (compare Thieme-B. XXII, 354 u. Wurzbach XIV, 126), he also worked as librarian and made a famous model of his home town (today in the City Museum in Prague, Muzeum hlavního mesta Prahy). - 54 professions are presented, including apothecary, bookbinder, butcher, carpenter, brewer, dyer and card and playing card maker; the plates show barber, glazier, bell founder, blacksmith, plumber, linen weaver, mechanic, wheelwright, saddler, soap boiler, rope maker, stonemason, potter and pewter. - Covers a little rubbed, leaf edges of Volume I partly a little waterstained, very good partly uncut copy.
