DU 27 AU 30 SEPTEMBRE 2018District 13 launches its first ever event at Drouot with a unique selection of galleries and street artists.
Press Preview and Private viewing (invitation only): 26 September 2018 I Public opening: 27 to 30 September 2018
The first District 13 - International Art Fair event will be held at the Hotel Drouot, an iconic institution of art history. Located in the heart of the capital, District 13 offers the public a curated selection of some of the most prominent international galleries and representatives of the world of Street Art.
A new cultural event in Paris, District 13 finds its inspiration in the city’s 13th district, and more specifically the Tour Paris 13 – the largest ever collective Street Art exhibition with over 4,500 m2 of floor space, walls and ceilings – and Street Art 13 – a genuine open-air museum – both projects that are led by the Itinerrance gallery.
An international event
District 13 seeks to enhance the appeal of Paris in the art market and positions itself in line with other major events in the French capital that represent the movement, at the heart of the debate and future of contemporary art.
Drouot, a first for Street Art
For the first time ever, Drouot will be hosting a fair dedicated to urban art – a movement that is undergoing a complete transformation and lies at the heart of the debate and future of contemporary art. Opened in 1852 in Paris, Hotel Drouot is the world’s largest auction house. Over the years, this institution has forged a place as a focal point for contemporary art. Works from the greatest names throughout the history of art, including Picasso, Matisse, Braque and Dalí, have been sold under the hammer of Drouot’s auctioneers. Today, this iconic address is carrying on its tradition of creativity and acting as a driving force on the international market. With this new cultural event, Drouot stands out once again as a key figure making history in the worlds of French and International Art by supporting the modern market and its practices.
