Japan - Album with approx. 200 orig. photographs and photo postcards from a journey to the Japanese Alps north-west of Tokyo. Mostly gelatin silver prints on photographic paper. Each mounted in cont. cloth album with cord binding and drawing on front cover. The photographs on the album pages mostly inscribed and dated (album somewhat light-stained). - Album documents a three-week journey to the mountains of Japan's main island: ascent of Norikura, the Kamakochi plateau, Yarigatake, Yakegatake, Yari and Ko-Yari. Then in the south: Ascent of Ontake, visit to Tenryugawa Valley. Other stations include: Ise, Futaminoura and Kobe. - With some lith. Postcards, some with typographical inscription on recto as well as contemp. photographs by others. - Partly slightly silvered or discoloured in margins, but overall very well preserved and comprehensive collection.
