The text contains the most important information on each species with its Latin and French name, a description of the tree and its geographical area of origin, the density of the wood and its use. - Andre Thil was one of the leading foresters in Paris during the 3rd Republic until his retirement in 1911. He is the author of two works on dendrology. The first is dedicated to French trees with 100 specimens and was published in 1895.
