Cartier Paris 1900 Edwardian Enameled Hairs-Comb IN 18Kt Gold With Diamonds This is one of the most magnificent, jeweled hairs combs we have ever seen. This is a museum piece created during the Edwardian / Belle Époque periods in Paris France by the jewelry house of Cartier, back in the 1900. The fabulous hairs-comb has been designed with elegant French neoclassic patterns in the style of Louis XVI. Exceptionally crafted with solid yellow gold of 18 karats topped with platinum for the settings of the Diamonds and carved tortoiseshell comb. The upper part is accented with one hundred sixty-one rose cuts Diamonds and embellished with a delicate engine turned guilloché design topped with translucent blue and opaque white, glass enamels. This magnificent and very important piece rivals the works by Kark Faberge made in Russia during the same period. Materials: 18Kt yellow gold, platinum, diamonds, enamel and carved comb. Diamonds: Mounted in millegrain settings, with 161 calibrated old European rose cuts diamonds, 1.22 carats, white colorless F color, VS/SI clarity. Measures: 106 mm by 92 mm (4.08 x 3.60 Inches). Weight: 45.80 Grams, (29.46 Dwt). Hallmarks: Stamped with French marks the maker's mark inside a lozenge cartouche, the mark of the eagle for the assay and warranty of the 18kt gold, the four digits serial numbers and signed, "1547". Provenance: Purchased in Cartier Paris, 13 Rue De la Paix, a private collection in London England, acquired in New York city. Collateral: This hair comb is accompanied by the original designer's antique fitted presentation jewelry curved box. Condition: The overall condition of this hairs comb is magnificent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. All parts are secured in the settings.
