PUCCINI Giacomo (1858 - 1924) PUCCINI Giacomo (1858 - 1924) OPERA - PUCCINI Giacomo (1858 - 1924) - Original photograph Original photograph depicting Maestro Giacomo Puccini during a hunting trip in Argentina, 1905. The musician is depicted in hunting attire, seated with his dogs close by, surrounded by a dozen or so characters during a break in a hunting trip, the Maestro's great passion. After 'Madama Butterfly', the Lucchese musician's fame was now universal, and in 1905 Puccini received an invitation to travel to Buenos Aires to attend the staging of his operas, excluding 'Le Villi'. He therefore set off on the long journey with his wife Elvira, landing in Argentina on 23 June, welcomed with great pomp. Here Puccini met his old friend Ferruccio Pagni, who had emigrated there the previous year, attended various performances and attended numerous banquets in his honour, but could not miss the opportunity for a long hunting trip in the 'pampas'. According to Fraccaroli's biography, Puccini turned out to be a bad shot. Applied on rigid cardboard (10.5 x 13.3 cm). - This item is under temporary import. If the item is delivered within the United Kingdom, it will be subject to a 5% Value Added Tax (VAT) on the hammer price.
