An early 20th century American coffee pot; of elongated vase form with urn finial to domed cover, angled elongated side handle and spreading circular foot, the upper part with bar-pierced and swag decorated border; foliate engraving to cover and upper part of the pot. Capacity one pint. Marked 'sterling' and signed J.C.Caldwell and Co. 27cm high, 16.9ozt Caldwell was a family firm based in Philadelphia. Originally jewellers, silversmiths and watchmakers, by the early 20th century they mainly acted as silver and jewellery retailers.
