Allom's engravings after drawings in the Staunton collection, depicting many places in the interior of China that were new to Western eyes and were considered 'the best-known nineteenth-century work on the subject' (ODNB) 4 parts in 2 volumes, 4to, (275 x 213). each volume with 31 plates plus an engraved title-page vignette for a total of 124 plates and 4 title-page vignettes (light but uniform browning, some spotting). Richly gilt cloth binding, spine and boards decorated with chinoiserie motifs (some quires loose and some wear to endpapers). (2)
