First edition, before the numbering and date of printing on the title-page, of one of the most beautiful collections of Roman Baroque architecture, depicting 16th; and 17th-century Roman fountains and the surrounding villas. The highly accurate, expertly engraved plates are taken from drawings by Falda and Francesco Venturini (1630-1710) and engraved by L. Rouhier. Part I was published around 1675, Part II before 1687, dedicated to Gio. Francesco Negroni, then Cleric Delle Camera Apostolica; he became Papal Legate in Bologna in 1687. 2 parts in 1 volume, oblong folio, (250 x 365mm). Part I: title-page, engraved dedication to Agostino Chigi, 31 engraved plates; Part II: title-page, engraved dedication to Francesco Negroni, 15 engraved plates. A total of 46 engraved plates, 2 engraved dedications and 2 title-pages (some light spotting). nineteenth-century binding with calf spine (some wear).
