Important historiographical work on the figure of Leonardo da Vinci commissioned to Giuseppe Bossi by the Viceroy of Italy Eugenio de Beauharnais and illustrated with 6 plates finely engraved in sanguine. Folio, (435 x 298 mm). Portrait of Leonardo on the frontispiece by Lomazzo and 6 plates taken from Leonardo's drawings intercalated in the text etched in sanguine etching by G. Longhi, G. Benaglia and Fr. Rosaspina (sporadic spotting). Contemporary binding with calf spine, gilt title and decorations on boards (small chippings on spine). (1)
