Printed and manuscript text within a frame with neoclassical decorations printed in woodcut, allegory of the 'Republique Francaise' at the top center. Bottom left round stamp with the crowned imperial eagle. Below the text are the signatures of the 'Membres du Conseil d'Administration'. On the reverse, long handwritten note attesting to the order of the Minister of War of 26 Brumaire. Slight foxing and traces of use, insignificant hole, good condition. 'Absolu' leave granted to Citizen Jean Morel, born in Paris, 'fusilier' of the First Company of the 2nd Bataillon. The document, drawn up when Napoleon had already become Emperor, bears the symbols of the Republic and the Empire. In the date at the end of the text "the printed inscription "Paris le Vingt-un Frimaire An 14" the printed inscription "Republique francaise" placed after Frimaire is canceled with a pen mark.
