Beautiful and rare geographical map depicting the Belgian territory in the region of Flanders and the province of Flemish Brabant in which several cities such as Brussels, Leuven, Tienen, Diest, Vilvoorde etc. are depicted. The map, printed mainly for use and consumption of the military, is striking for its accuracy in the hydrographic and woodland indications, as well as the topography of the small settlements in the illustrated region. Eugène-Henri Fricx (1644-1730) was a printer, bookseller and engraver from Brussels. He was active from 1670 until his death, printing numerous history books and military maps of Belgium.

Piccolo difetto alla parte inferiore del dorso del volume II, dorato sbiadito, poche macchie brune, per il resto buono stato interno. Tre dei 5 volumi di questa edizione del viaggio di DAMPIER. Volume 1: nuovo viaggio intorno al mondo... Volume 2: Continuazione del Voyage autour du monde (con il trattato sui venti) Volume 3: Supplément du Voyage autour du monde (comprensivo di una descrizione di Achin, città di Sumatra, del regno di Tonquin e di altri luoghi delle Indie e della baia di Campêche). Orfano di Weymouth nel Dorset, William Dampier (1651-1715) fu il primo inglese a sbarcare in Australia e il primo navigatore a circumnavigare il globo per tre volte. La sua opera, pubblicata originariamente in inglese nel 1697, fece scalpore: nonostante le sue attività di bucaniere, le sue osservazioni idrografiche, geografiche e scientifiche gli valsero il plauso del mondo accademico.
