Three gilt edges and marble endpapers (discoloured, somewhat rubbed and bumped). - Without the frontispiece portrait. - First collected edition. - The plates, engraved by John Burnet after other artists and old masters, show techniques of painting and drawing: 9 plates on composition, 8 plates on light and shadow and 8 plates on colouring. - Somewhat browned.
