Uno yatagan balcanico-ottomano, seconda metà del XIX secolo Tipica lama ricurva, iscrizione e marchio del fabbro sul dritto. Montatura della lama, ghiera dell'impugnatura e guardia in argento sbalzato e inciso a fiori. Montaggio della lama mancante sul retro, cinghia dell'impugnatura con un piccolo difetto sul lato inferiore. Scaglie dell'impugnatura in corno, con lievi danni al pomo. Lunghezza 76 cm. The plant classification developed by the French botanist and professor of medicine Tournefort (1656-1708) remained the standard throughout Europe until superseeded by the nomenclature introduced by Linnaeus in 1753. He took with him the painter Aubriet "to enrich the collections of the king and those of the Academy. His rigid determination to stick closely to his scientific aims prevented him from noting many things that a more naive traveller would have described" (Cox). - Occasionally browned. Overall good. - Jesus Christ is depicted on the cross, with one of the apostles weeping at his feet. - We locate the painting in the German school of the first half of the 19th century.
