Legatura in mezza pelle e cartonato marmorizzato, fregi in oro al dorso, tagli marmorizzati, fogli di guardia marmorizzati. Antiporta incisa, Pagine [16, incluso Frontespizio], 401, [1]. Con 7 Tavole fuori testo e 19 vignette nel testo incise in rame, una a piena pagina in fine, fregi xilografici. In totale 8 tavole fuori testo, compresi Antiporta e Ritratto, e una tavola a piena pagina, tutto inciso in rame. Sporadico lieve foxing, bell’esemplare. Bella edizione magnificamente figurata. Gamba: “Splendida”. Le incisioni sono opera di V. Franceschini e Chasteau sui disegni originali di Ghersius e Grisoni. L'opera è costituita da una dedica al conte di Burlington, da una vita dell'autore e ragionamento dell'opera, dai Nomi dei Signori Sottoscriventi, dal Pastor fido e, infine, l’aggiunta di alcune “Rime scelte”.Graesse III, 167; Gamba, 557 (nota); Gay, V, 451. 4to; 235x185 mm. Quarter calf binding and marbled cardboard; gilt ornaments on spine, marbled inside covers and edges. A total of 8 plates including frontispiece and portrait and a full page plate. Slight spread foxing, but nice specimen. Beautiful, magnificently illustrated edition. Gamba: “Splendida”. The engravings are the work of V. Franceschini and Chasteau based on the original drawings by Ghersius and Grisoni. The work consists of a dedication to the Earl of Burlington, a life of the author and reasoning of the work, the names of the signatories, the Pastor fido and, finally, the addition of some “Rime scelte”.
