Cesc Senar, for Betera. Table. Totem model. Marble and glass. Measurements: 75 x 110 x 110 cm. Since 1972, the designer Cesc Senar has been creating auxiliary furniture for the modern home for Masis. Over the decades, innovation in terms of aesthetic and functional perception, but also in the use of new materials, has been refined and adapted to the most contemporary demands. Totem is one of Masis' classic models, contemporary in style and timeless in design, endowed with timeless elegance and cadence. In addition to the model with square or rectangular top, Senar also designed this variant with a circular top in transparent glass. The backing, consisting of two intersecting slats, is made of white marbled marble. The cross-section is balanced by the circle of the tabletop, offering a design of refined geometry.

Includes wicker newspaper rack with brass hardware. Made by France & Daverkosen, labeled here. Slight marks of use. Measurements: 50 x 99 x 99 cm. Coffee table designed in 1956 by Danish designer couple Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen, in solid wood, with circular top housing a wicker newspaper rack. Peter Hvidt (1916-1986) and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen (1907-1993) were pioneers of mid-century Danish design and founders of the Copenhagen-based firm Hvidt & Mølgaard. The duo established a simple and precise aesthetic by designing countless pieces of furniture over the years, many of which became icons of the era. Today, their work is exhibited at MoMA, the National Gallery of Melbourne and the Copenhagen Design Museum. This flame-shaped design evokes the candles of the old candelabra chandeliers.
