Savu Petra Dan, pintora que sobrevivió al Holocausto en Bergen-Belsen. La judía Savu Petra Dan nació en 1903 en Bucarest (Rumanía). De 1926 a 1933 estudió en la Escuela Superior de Arte de Bucarest. Unos años más tarde fue contratado por el rey Carol II de Rumanía como pintor de su corte y fue galardonado con el premio de Estado del Ministerio de Educación y Asuntos Culturales de Rumanía. En 1961 emigró a Israel y en 1974 se trasladó a Alemania, donde falleció en 1986 (Fráncfort del Meno). Savu Petra Dan prefería las pinturas al óleo sobre lienzo, expresivas en sus primeros años; más tarde se volvieron más abstractas e incluso surrealistas. También creó retratos y composiciones de paisajes, pero muchas de sus obras dan testimonio de profundos sufrimientos y sentimientos, de la lucha humana de la vida y la muerte. Debido a sus propias experiencias muy traumáticas durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial en el campo de concentración de Bergen-Belsen, Savu Petra Dan creó una serie de cuadros impresionistas titulados - Detrás del alambre de espino, Por favor, no me crucifiques más, Supervivientes del campo de concentración, Fosa común y Dictador.
