E.P. de Monchy (1793–1883) “was a Rotterdam merchant and patrician; son of a democratic patriot. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 1843 and supported the proposals put forward by the Nine Men for the democratization of the Constitution. After leaving the House, he served for a long time as president of the Dutch Trading Company."
