Bold Design Auctions

Baron Reverdito – ULTRA 80: From Sottsass to Starck | February 10, 2026
Leducq – Collections Modernes | February 12, 2026

Philippe Hiquily (1925–2013)
Modular dining table known as Table Design, created in 1968
Estimate: €40,000–60,000
(Collections Modernes – Leducq)

Icons of the 1980s

Baron Reverdito presents a sale dedicated to European postmodern design, drawn from a discerning collector’s assemblage. Nearly a hundred iconic pieces illustrate how design broke free from functionalism to tell stories. Philippe Starck occupies a central place, with creations from his 1980–1990 period, including historic commissions for the Sanderson Hotel (Swann Armchair, est. €800–1,200) or the J Lang Armchair (est. €1,200–1,800), designed for the French Ministry of Culture.

The selection also features works by Borek Šípek, with his organic shapes and baroque touches, including a prototype of the Steltman Chair (est. €3,000–5,000), and pieces by Enzo Mari, Nathalie Du Pasquier, or Ron Arad, reflecting the creative laboratory that defined this period. The lesser-known Groupe Xylos is represented by the Gerris table (est. €3,000–4,000) and the Janus sideboard (est. €8,000–12,000) in poplar burl, exemplifying exceptional craftsmanship.

The Best of French Design

French designers take the spotlight at Leducq’s Collections Modernes auction on February 12. The centerpiece is Philippe Hiquily’s modular dining table, Table Design, estimated at €40,000–60,000. Created in 1968, this solid steel table is made of sixteen triangular elements fitted together to form a geometric tabletop with beveled angles.

Other notable furniture includes a substantial sycamore and pearwood desk by Michel Dufet, reminiscent of a piece he presented at the 1928 Paris Autumn Salon (est. €30,000–40,000), as well as a sleek floor lamp, the Cerf Volant by Pierre Guariche, circa 1952 (est. €7,000–9,000), and an ingenious telescopic wall light by Robert Mathieu, also circa 1952 (est. €6,000–8,000).

Ader | Triquet intime

February 12, 2026

Henry de Triqueti
Decor project for the Wolsey Chapel – Nathanaël under the Fig Tree, 1866
Gouache on pencil, with gilded highlights
Estimate: €12,000–15,000

On February 12, Ader will auction the Triqueti Collection, preserved at Château du Perthuis in Loiret since the 19th century. This rare ensemble includes sculptures, drawings, models, archives, and personal objects belonging to Baron Henry de Triqueti (1803–1874) and his daughter Blanche (1837–1886). Beyond offering an overview of his work, the sale provides a glimpse into the artist’s private world, bridging studio life, family, and European networks.

A Cosmopolitan Artist

Triqueti’s career unfolded across Europe. Trained and recognized in France, he quickly received major commissions, including the Madeleine doors and the recumbent of the Duke of Orléans. The ivory group La Miséricorde divine accueillant le Repentir (est. €50,000–80,000) testifies to his mastery and his appeal to contemporaries. His close ties with the British court earned him the nickname “sculptor of princes,” culminating in his monumental Windsor projects during the last decade of his life.

Windsor, the Heart of His Career

The Wolsey Chapel in Windsor became the focal point of a lifetime of research. For this monumental project, Triqueti developed a technique that he pushed to its limits: marble tarsia, aiming to unite sculpture and painting on a single surface. The work demanded his knowledge, design sensibility, and taste for complex symbolic programs, as illustrated by the decor project Nathanaël under the Fig Tree (est. €12,000–15,000).

The Women Around Triqueti

Women played a decisive role in the artist’s life. His mother oversaw his education and faith. His daughter Blanche, both worldly and romantic, close to Pierre Loti and Salomon Reinach, carried on his legacy. Princess Victoria, herself an artist, was a steadfast supporter of his work. Finally, Susan Durant, pupil and later collaborator, was central during the Windsor years. The sale includes several works by Susan Durant, notably a superb white marble bust, Ruth, 1869 (banner image – est. €40,000–60,000).

Euvrard & Fabre | Cabinet of Curiosities

February 12, 2026

Organ or double hourglass sideboard in chased bronze with floral decoration
France – Mid-17th century
Estimate: €8,000–10,000

Over two afternoons, this sale invites visitors on a fascinating journey through centuries and disciplines, in the spirit of historic cabinets of curiosities. Astonishment reigns supreme, with estimates ranging from €50 to €20,000, across a succession of lots that are as scholarly as they are unusual.

Fossiles, météorite et trésors lointains

The first session opens with a selection combining natural sciences, ancient art, and historical curiosities. Highlights include a spectacular slice of the Aletai meteorite (est. €10,000–20,000), revealing the celestial fragment’s internal structure.

The journey continues through the ages with a Diplomystus dentatus fossil from the Green River Formation, Eocene (est. €2,700–3,000), two Tayrona gold narigueras (9th–16th century) offered together (est. €2,000–3,000), and a delicate 19th-century three-masted ship model carved in wood (est. €1,800–2,500).

Naturalia and Curious Objects
The following day highlights natural wonders, including an impressive 225 cm narwhal tusk weighing 6.7 kg, late 18th–early 19th century (est. €5,000–7,000), and a branch of Mediterranean red coral on its substrate (est. €3,000–5,000).

The sale concludes with two remarkable pieces: a pedagogical machine by George Atwood (1884) for studying falling bodies (est. €3,000–5,000), and an 18th-century Nuremberg miniature coffin containing a wax figure (est. €6,000–8,000).

Coutau-Bégarie | Provenances et Collections

February 13, 2026

Thérèse Hummel
Baigneuse
Oil on canvas, signed and dated lower right 47
Estimate: €80–120

The Thérèse Hummel collection revives Montparnasse’s bohemian life during the Roaring Twenties, offering an intimate and distinctly feminine perspective on this legendary period.

A Feminine Bohemia

Born into Parisian bourgeoisie, Thérèse Hummel studied at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, where she met Jeanne Hébuterne, future companion of Modigliani. Together, they formed an artistic sisterhood with Loulou Hummel, Chana Orloff, Renée Kisling, and Germaine Taillefer, defining a community of female creators striving to establish themselves in a male-dominated world.

Creating Despite Obstacles

Supportive and united, these women navigated an art world still largely closed to them. Thérèse pursued a discreet career, continuing to create works ranging from Parisian landscapes (Le Jardin du Luxembourg, est. €200–300) to portraits (Portrait of George Olive as a Child, est. €150–200) and female nudes (est. €100–200). The collection reveals the deep ties between artists, models, and friends at the heart of Montparnasse.

Jeanne Hébuterne, Loulou, and Loyal Friendships

Major works include four drawings attributed to Jeanne Hébuterne depicting Loulou, Thérèse’s flamboyant sister and model, exemplifying the artistic complicity between these young creators. Examples include Back Nude, Arms Behind Head (est. €1,000–1,500) and Standing Nude, Facing Sideways, Arms Behind Head (est. €1,000–2,000), along with a large ensemble of photographs and correspondence.

Modigliani and Picasso: Witnesses to an Intimate Circle

The collection also contains two drawings by Modigliani (including Portrait of a Man with Bow Tie, est. €5,000–7,000) and a remarkable Pablo Picasso sheet (Cubist Still Life with Whisky Bottle “Black and White”, est. €4,000–6,000), dedicated to the Hummel family and accompanied by a rare parody poster. Beyond the signatures, the collection conveys friendship, freedom, and creative emulation, capturing the vibrant spirit of Montparnasse during the Roaring Twenties.

Villemur.art | Furniture and Art Objects

February 17, 2026

Théodore Géricault (1791–1824)
Horses at Pasture, or the Bay and White Horse
Pen, black ink, and watercolor
Estimate: €20,000–30,000

Villemur Art will present two major discoveries from private collections at Hôtel Drouot.

Rennes Silversmithing in the Spotlight

A pair of silver sugar shakers by Jean Roysard (master 1709) testifies to the art of living under Louis XIV. These baluster-shaped pieces, decorated with gadroons and lanceolate leaves, are exceedingly rare, as many such pairs were melted down during the Seven Years’ War or the Revolution (est. €30,000–50,000). The presence of a Moor’s head on the coat of arms suggests a direct link to Breton shipowners enriched by the sugar trade, a prestigious commodity in the 18th century.

A Previously Unknown Géricault

The auction will also feature a previously unknown drawing by French Romantic painter Théodore Géricault. Titled Horses at Pasture, or the Bay and White Horse, the pen, ink, and watercolor comes from the former C. du Soulier collection. Discovered during an inventory, the work has remained in the same family until today.

Centered on animals, the scene is lit by subtle light, and the dark clouds transform this pastoral setting into a deeply Romantic work (est. €20,000–30,000). Elusive yet universally admired, Géricault, an admirer of Ingres and Raphael before becoming a leader of the Romantic school, is a man of contrasts. Widely mourned after his death, praised by Delacroix, and called a “man of talent” by Balzac, he never witnessed his own success.

Auction Art Rémy Le Fur & Associés | Guy Loudmer Collection

February 18, 2026

Alexander Calder
Untitled
Gouache on paper, signed, dated, and dedicated
Estimate: €30,000–40,000

On Wednesday, February 18, 2026, Auction Art Rémy Le Fur & Associés will disperse the collection assembled by Guy Loudmer at Hôtel Drouot. Comprising 189 lots of modern art and African and Oceanic art, the collection reflects the vision of a curator who shaped the Parisian art market over several decades.

A Discerning Eye

Guy Loudmer distinguished himself through his curiosity for artists and movements that were still underappreciated. He helped bring them to public attention, creating dialogue between works and innovating auction formats, including off-site and international sales. According to Rémy Le Fur, “His sharp eye and keen taste for Modern Art and African and Oceanic art gave new visibility to these works, energizing auction rooms with unmatched presence.”

20th-Century Masterpieces

The collection features works by leading 20th- and 21st-century artists: Calder, Tàpies, Buffet, Richier, Tal-Coat, Ben, Arman, Léger, and Ernst, alongside African and Oceanic objects. Highlights include a gouache by Alexander Calder (est. €30,000–40,000), dedicated to Guy Loudmer, a Fernand Léger drawing (est. €10,000–15,000), and a plaster greyhound by Rembrandt Bugatti (est. €8,000–12,000).

A Passion for African and Oceanic Art

Fifty lots focus on tribal art, reflecting Loudmer’s refined eye. They include a polychrome Iatmul drum from the Sepik River (est. €5,000–6,000), a rare headdress from the Nico Mazaraki and Geneviève Gallibert collections (est. €12,000–15,000), a large Fijian headrest (est. €3,000–5,000), and a Kanak roof finial with a fierce expression (est. €6,000–8,000), each demonstrating the quality and diversity of this unique collection.
