TRINITAT SOTOS BAYARRI (Sabadell, 1927). "Pariser Stadtbild", 1955. Aquarell auf Papier. Signiert, datiert und in der linken unteren Ecke lokalisiert. Maße: 42 x 26 cm; 59 x 42 cm (Rahmen). Die in Santander ansässige katalanische Malerin Trinidad Sotos Bayarri malt seit ihrer Kindheit und gewann mit nur zwölf Jahren den Kinderwettbewerb der Akademie der Schönen Künste von Sabadell. Später, zwischen 1940 und 1946, studierte sie bei dem Meister Antonio Vila Arrufat und erweiterte schließlich ihre Ausbildung an der Schule der Schönen Künste von Sant Jordi in Barcelona, wo sie 1951 ihren Abschluss machte. Anschließend setzte er seine Ausbildung in Italien und Frankreich (1952-57) fort und lebte eine Zeit lang in New York. Seit seinem Debüt im Jahr 1946 hatte er Ausstellungen in herausragenden Galerien wie der Biosca in Madrid (1957), der Raymond Duncan in Paris (1959), der Ward Eggleston in New York (1961), der Trianon in Madrid (1970), usw.

Francisco Pons Arnau was one of Joaquin Sorolla's main disciples, also becoming his son-in-law when he married his daughter Maria de Sorolla. Although landscapes abound in his production, he also cultivated portraiture, developing in this genre a type of work of great sensuality and exquisiteness that links him to Modernism and Art Deco. An example of this is this beautiful canvas of The Wench of the Pitcher, in which the painter demonstrates his interest in the treatment of light and the brightness of colors, achieving transparencies and enamelled surfaces that show the influence of Symbolism. His canvases of female figures, as defined by the chronicles of the time, have a character of “modern worldliness” but, in this case, the chic woman disappears and the protagonist is a young racial woman with a deep and disturbing gaze, much closer to the symbolist aesthetic. As in most of his production, in this work he demonstrates his skill in representing things, their “qualities”, as can be seen in the shiny and enameled texture of the jug that the girl holds, and also the type of lighting. modern “Valencian style”, in which the silhouette of the female model is silhouetted against the whitewashed wall in the background. He began collecting in the 1980s, from following music tours in Germany, as well as attending swap meets in Hanover, where as well as exchanging autographs, he was given addresses of celebrities, who he would then write to directly for signatures. His collection was meticulously collated, mostly in albums, and added to over many years. Authenticated prior to the sale by Adam Andrusier. Collated in a presentation album by Mr Bach, with tipped in photograph on opposing page.
