A rare and charming Roman marble pyxis, 1st century B.C. - 1st century A.D. Round box with lid made of brownish marble. The side wall decorated all around with a very finely cut and composed relief frieze of bacchanalian and pastoral scenes. On the lid an equally finely cut frieze, with a golden handle knob, which is decorated with a stylised blossom. A masterly work of antique miniature art, such as could probably be found in senatorial households! Intact. Height 4 cm. Diameter 4.3 cm. Provenance: South German private collection. Condition: II +

A German trombone and an Art Nouveau cachepot, early 20th century Posaune mit versilberter, etwas beriebener Oberfläche. Mundstück nicht zugehörig. Ungemarkt. Länge 116 cm. Dazu ein Cachepot mit reichem Rocaillendekor aus versilbertem Messingblech, ebenfalls etwas berieben. Die beweglichen Ringe stilisiert nach Rankengirlanden. Die Lippe an einer Seite leicht verformt. Höhe 22,5 cm. Condition: II -
