第一部分：V.S. 奈保尔爵士（1932–2018）私人收藏 拍品编号 226–236 歌川国芳（1797–1861） 江户时代，约1851–1852年 日本木版画， 《川中岛大决战图》（Kawanakajima daikassen no zu），署名“一游斎 国芳画”，由泉屋市兵卫刊行，大判三联画（每幅约33厘米×24厘米），装裱并覆有玻璃。 来源：V.S. 奈保尔爵士（1932–2018）私人收藏 这幅充满戏剧性的作品描绘了1561年第四次川中岛战役中的一个著名场景。 这是16世纪50年代至60年代期间，甲斐国武田信玄与越后国上杉谦信在川中岛平原上的一系列交锋之一。 画中描绘了武田信玄的部将山本勘助（居中）策马奋勇冲入敌阵，最终壮烈牺牲的场景。 大英博物馆藏品中还有另一幅同类作品，馆藏编号为2008,3037.18316。
