皇家公鸡，奥克帕——尼日利亚南部——古贝宁王国 20世纪上半叶。金属合金（铜、黄铜）。 尺寸：高54厘米。 鸡冠高耸，喙微张，这只鸟伫立在栖木上，仿佛正停留在啼鸣的瞬间。 这只公鸡（okpa）是采用失蜡法铸造的尊贵器物。自16世纪起，这些皇家艺术品便被供奉在祖先祭坛上，以供王太后（Iyoba）瞻仰。 公鸡象征着国王（奥巴）的力量、勇气和英勇，在生者与逝者之间扮演着中介的角色。这只公鸡的姿态体现了它的品质和作用：胸膛挺拔，头颅高昂，双脚牢牢扎根于地面。 羽毛的细节处理极为精巧。公鸡栖息于一个管状开口的中空构件上，该构件则置于基座之上；基座饰有螺旋形徽章和浮雕点状纹样，边缘镶有一圈珍珠。 底座的装饰元素（同心螺旋、点状纹饰）让人联想到贝宁王国（尼日利亚）的江户时期艺术作品，尤其是祭坛底座和纪念牌（此归属推测尚待进一步确认）。 状况：呈金棕色包浆，在不同光线照射下会呈现金属光泽。 研究与文献：科里塞·姆瓦佩——艺术史学家，专攻古代非洲艺术。 内部编号：698
