水牛头盔面具——喀麦隆——巴米莱克族 19世纪末至20世纪初。木质，表面呈深色，部分区域有粗糙的包浆。 尺寸：53厘米。 头部鼻部向前延伸，口吻强健，鼻孔宽大，下颚半张，露出排列整齐的几何形牙齿。眼睛雕刻成凸起的杏仁形。 两只向内弯曲的粗壮犄角矗立在动物头顶。在喀麦隆草原地区的酋长领地（巴米莱克酋长领地和巴穆姆王国）中，水牛是一种重要的图腾动物，象征着战斗精神和勇气。 这些水牛面具属于“丰”（国王）所有，仅在农业仪式或司法相关仪式中才会亮相。 德国裔美国传教士兼人类学家保罗·格鲍尔（Paul Gebauer，1912-1977）在巴门达地区各酋长领地拍摄的照片显示，水牛面具从不单独起舞。 它属于一组动物面具（豹、鸟、大象）的一部分，这些面具象征着与国王权力相联结的丛林之力。 研究与文献整理：科里丝·姆瓦佩——艺术史学家，专攻古代非洲艺术。 内部编号：279
