古乐斋：一件以人鱼为题材的珍稀木制根付 古乐斋作，署名“古乐斋” 日本，江户（东京），19世纪 早期，江户时代（1615-1868） 这件作品以大胆的雕刻手法塑造了“人鱼”——这种神话中的生物拥有人的头部和上半身，与长而蜿蜒的鱼尾浑然一体。人鱼蹲伏于地，双手高举抓着自己长而飘逸的头发，而那条修长的尾巴则紧紧盘绕在自身周围，形成了一个紧凑圆润的整体。 尾部的鳞片表面刻痕深邃，与上身光滑的塑形形成鲜明对比。那张神秘的面容因鎏金嵌眼而栩栩如生。底部有大型不对称的“日”字形凹痕，并在椭圆形留白处署有 “KORAKUSAI”字样。 长度 6 厘米 品相：品相极佳，仅有轻微的正常磨损。 “人鱼”（Ningyo）是半人半鱼的神话生物，相当于西方传统中的美人鱼。其形象可能受到目击未知海洋动物（如儒艮）的影响，这些动物在人们的想象中被转化为人鱼生物。 根付作品中最常见的表现形式是女性人鱼怀抱孩童，或手持与海中龙王相关的圣珠（tama）。本品则呈现了一种较为罕见的变体，描绘了独自一人的人鱼，她轻柔地抚弄着自己长长的飘逸秀发。 博物馆对比： 可参见大都会艺术博物馆藏、同一位艺术家（署名“Korakusai”）创作的木制根付，宽3.2厘米，描绘了一名男子与一位人鱼，藏品编号10.211.1726。
