梅尔莫兹·让 亲笔信“让”，1927年11月5日于拉罗谢尔，致其“亲爱的妈妈”；2页四开纸，信头印有“法英酒店”字样。 乘船启程前往巴西。 由于轮船未在波尔多停靠，他便前往拉罗谢尔登上了“格鲁瓦号”客轮。 “我将多花些时间，因为需要停靠毕尔巴鄂、里斯本、达喀尔、纳塔尔，最后抵达里约热内卢。但这将使旅程更加美好。 […] 拉泰科埃尔先生原本不希望我进行这次横渡，但我已接到指令，要完成一次从纳塔尔到智利的八千至一万公里飞行，途中仅停靠一次，甚至可能挑战直线距离纪录！”…… 随信附有一封题为“让”的亲笔信，1927年11月17日发自达喀尔，致“亲爱的妈妈”（1页半，in-8开本，印有“联合货运公司”的徽标）：“我们目前停泊在达喀尔港。 由于黄热病仍在夺走许多人的生命，我们无法上岸。天气热得要命！！到目前为止，航行一直很顺利。不过挺令人难过的，大部分乘客在达喀尔下船时都对黄热病心存恐惧，这也很自然！ 从波尔图出发后，海景壮丽。但从拉罗谢尔到葡萄牙这段路程，天气非常恶劣。我一刻也没感到不适。照旧吃得像四个人一样多。还有十天的航程才能抵达里约热内卢，我将在那里暂时定居”…… 信件，第126号和第128号。 来源：- 让·梅尔莫兹（1901-1936）； - 加布里埃尔·吉莱-梅尔莫兹（1880-1955）； - 随后由后代传承至家族
