VERVEER, Elchanon Landscape with three children. Ca. 1860-1870 Drawing, watercolour, 16,7 x 16,5 cm, paper, signed at bottom right: "Elchanon Verveer" (light dampstaining). Under passe-partout. Lovely scene with three children playing at the riverside. Elchanon Verveer (1826-1900) was a member of the Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague and was taught by his elder brother and the Dutch landscape painter Herman ten Kate (1822-1891). He painted idyllic romantic landscapes and also recorded the life of fishermen in Scheveningen. In 2015 a large exhibition was held of his work and that of his brother in the Jewish Museum of Amsterdam. Joined: 1. De Keyser, Nicaise - Young lady at a water fountain. Antwerp, 1849.
