The clear lampshades were made of special paper illustrated with images of landscapes, figures, flowers or birds, and sometimes poetry. The bases were usually made of redwood or other precious Chinese woods such as huali (rosewood). The decoration of the base could include stones and ivory. The Qing dynasty was the last Chinese imperial dynasty, ruling the present-day country from 1644 to 1912. Founded by Manchu warriors.
