La fontana è dedicata all’arciduca Francesco Carlo, padre dell’imperatore Francesco Giuseppe I. Realizzata in onore del 50° soggiorno termale dell’arciduca Francesco Carlo. Nell’agosto del 1853 l’imperatore Francesco Giuseppe I ed Elisabetta (Sisi) si incontrarono a Bad Ischl, dove ebbe luogo il famoso fidanzamento della coppia.
