Presenza di piccole macchie di ossidazione. Pieghe rotte lungo il bordo inferiore. Margini integri. Di estrema rarità. Tiratura di 3 prove conosciute. Timbro a secco apposto da Rodolphine Bresdin, figlia dell’artista (Lugt 2194). Timbro AABM (Lugt 3075). «Questa acquaforte che Boon chiama La foresta di Fontainebleau è in realtà incompiuta. [...] questa composizione si colloca senza dubbio, sebbene non sia datata, tra le acqueforti del 1880. Alcuni cataloghi precedenti l’avevano datata prima del 1861, ma lo stile e la tecnica di questa incisione rendono impossibile tale datazione. [...] Costituisce una delle improvvisazioni più libere di Bresdin tra le sue acqueforti del 1880. [...] Poco dopo aver realizzato questa acquaforte, Bresdin rielaborò da cima a fondo la lastra per disegnare una composizione completamente nuova: La radura nella foresta. » (Dirk van Gelder, Rodolphe Bresdin, catalogo ragionato delle opere incise, vol.
