Altezza: 59 cm; Larghezza: 69 cm Originario del Limousin ma cresciuto inizialmente in Algeria, Jean-Louis PAGUENAUD (1876-1952) si formò all’École des Arts Décoratifs di Limoges e all’Académie Julian, dove si dice fosse allievo di Bouguereau. Per tutta la vita conservò una grande passione per i viaggi e i paesi del sole: Paesi Baschi, Spagna, Asia, Antille, Africa, Nord Africa, Polinesia ecc. Nel 1922 viene nominato pittore ufficiale della Marina. Paul Valéry lo soprannomina «L’ammiraglio dei pittori, il pittore degli ammiragli». Il Museo della Marina conserva diverse opere di questo brillante colorista.
