GIAPPONE - XVIII secolo Statua in bronzo raffigurante il bodhisattva Jizo. La figura è raffigurata in piedi su un piedistallo a forma di doppio loto La mano sinistra regge un gioiello che esaudisce i desideri (*nyoi hôju*), mentre la mano destra è abbassata nella postura dello *yogan-in* (*varada mudra*), il gesto del dono e dell’esaudimento dei desideri. È vestito con ampie vesti, aperte sul petto, Dietro di lui si erge un'aureola il cui retro è finemente decorato con un emblema a forma di foglia di edera associato al clan Matsunaga. Sul retro della statua, uno sportello incernierato e dotato di chiusura consente l’accesso a una cavità interna, originariamente concepita per custodire delle reliquie. Vi è incisa un’iscrizione: «Realizzata dal maestro fonditore Kondô Seisaburô, detto Saku, residente a Iwagami, Kyoto».
