Sbiadito, macchie Félix Thomas vinse il Gran Premio di Roma per l’architettura nel 1845. Dopo il suo viaggio in Italia, proseguì il suo itinerario in Grecia e in Turchia. Nel 1851 fu incaricato dal governo francese di partecipare alla missione di Fulgence Fresnel in Asia Minore e in Mesopotamia in qualità di architetto disegnatore. È proprio durante questo viaggio che realizza il nostro disegno del ponte Cizre Ibn Omar, al confine tra l’attuale Turchia e la Siria.
