Suzanne Joire era modella per Jeanne Paquin, la prima grande stilista francese ad aver riscosso successo internazionale già alla fine del XIX secolo. Al Salone del 1906 Gervex dipinse i coniugi Paquin e la loro boutique nell’opera *Le Cinq heures chez Paquin*.
